Watusi

”Watusi"

Introducing our new stud boy, Sunstone Watusi. Watusi is a Lilac who is dilute himself , and he carries cinnamon. He was born on the 20th March 2003.

Watusi is available for restricted stud. He lives indoors in a room specially converted for his needs, we are very lucky that he sprays minimally, and is the softest boy we have ever met. He loves to come and be a part of the family and runs in the house every day whilst the girls are locked away. we practice controlled matings and visiting girls "live" in our cat proofed kitchen separate from our own cat family when not preoccupied with Watusi. We are happy to feed special diets and try to make the girls feel as at home as possible.

Watusi has been with us almost a year now, and has fathered 3 litters from our girls resulting in 11 healthy kittens

We are so proud and privileged to have been allowed to have this boy here, a huge thanks to his breeders, Elizabeth at Sunstone cats and Christopher of Laughingcat, California, USA. It was after a very long search for just the right cat that we found Elizabeth. We are desperate for new bloodlines to come to England and after a lot of thought we decided we would have to import to further the breed.

Watusi has arrived after waiting 6 months to fulfil the pet passport scheme which involves a huge amount of work and blood tests. I am ever grateful to Elizabeth and Christopher for taking on all this extra hassle for me. We are confident that his fresh bloodline will not carry pectus, FCK, twisted legs or heart problems due to very close and controlled line breeding. With this method problems that are in a line show up very quickly and can be dealt with and controlled before the problem is unknowingly spread. I hope to be able to apply this method to my work here in England and be able to produce kittens free from the problems we have already encountered by breeding out the fault.

Watusi is already a proven male, having had several litters already, and we are happy to say he carries cinnamon, and also being a dilute himself, I am eager to see what colours will be made from matings with my own girls. we could potentially make all 12 colours as Jenkka, carries cinnamon as well. Due to the restrictions on my contract with the breeder, please note that no offspring of Watusi’s can ever return to the USA. I will export to other countries (POA) provided I have lines clear of problems. I will not export lines carrying genetical faults. We suspect that Kit and also Jenkka are clear, but we would like to prove the fact before letting the lines go for breeding.
