Kitten Enquiry Questions
Please take some time to think about these questions for any kitten enquiry, we may ask some questions in the e-mails that we exchange with you. All of our Kittens are a much-loved part of the family and we like to keep in touch with all our kittens when they move to new homes. Please don’t see these questions as being intrusive, we just want to make sure our Kittens are right for you and will fit in with your lifestyle to become a much loved pet for many years to come.
Common questions about yourself and your family, for example, Family members and ages? Who will be responsible for the primary care of this cat? Does anyone in your household have an allergy problem with cats? Asthma?
Some questions we ask are about your pets, Current pets types, Have they been neutered/spayed? If not, why? Have you ever owned an Ocicat before? Under what circumstances would you consider having a pet put to sleep? What do you do with your pets when you go away? How much time will this kitten be left alone per day?
Other questions we may ask can include Where will this kitten sleep, be fed, have its litter tray kept? What type of personality are you looking for in a cat? What made you decide this was the breed for you? Are you interested in a pet, breeder, or show cat? Male or female? It may take several weeks for your kitten to adjust to its new home, how will you handle this transition period? What are the top three qualities or characteristics you are looking for in your pet? What do you do when the weather is hot, do you open the windows in your home? Do you own or rent? House of apartment? If renting, are you allowed pets? What amount of time will this kitten be allowed outdoors? If allowed outdoors will it have the run of the neighbourhood or will you confine it in some manner? (Pet run, harness, only if you are with it, etc.)
Some of the most important questions we ask, however, are about us! Did you visit or contact other breeders? If so what was your experience with them? and What is your definition of a reputable breeder? What do you expect? We are not big time, kitten farms, nor backyard breeders, we are responsible people with cats as our hobby, its our aim to raise happy, healthy kittens and also as we bring them up it is important to us that we introduce elements of how their new homes will be so there are no huge shocks for the kitten. If there are other animals in your life such as dogs, we do our best to socialise the kitten with a dog, who is owned by my mother, these questions you see here work both ways, they may seem over the top but at the end of the day it helps us to raise the kittens so they have an easy transition in to their new homes which is better for everyone involved.
